Why you should update your(OS) operating system?

Most of our computer devices run on operating systems, imagining running your computer or devices without operating systems, most of us wouldn't have a clue as to what to do with it. Operating systems make our work so easier, as more advancements are rising up, our work is becoming simpler and simpler. But the most important thing for operating systems health is updates. Yeah, those ones that keep popping up when you are doing your important thing, Yeah! those ones.  

Operating Systems updates are very important for their functioning and security, in fact, their very purpose is to maintain and keep things running smoothly. 

Why is it important to update your PC or phone? 

Naturally, some people ignore updating their devices and applications and fall prey to many intrusions. Yes, intrusions! Malicious hackers try to find vulnerabilities in systems and if you don't update your device then you probably fall prey to their attacks, even if it isn't an attack, normally there are many bugs and fixes that need to be done on systems to increase performance and overall usability and to achieve that companies usually render software updates, in a weekly or monthly or sometimes quarterly cycle.  

Why people delay software updates despite the risk? 

In May 2017, around a quarter of a million computers were infected with a malicious virus named, "WanaCry". Victims of these found their files locked and were forced to pay a ransom of about $300 to $600 USD. Later through some investigations, it was found that this could have been avoided if they applied a security patch that Microsoft had issued weeks before the attack. The software update could have stopped the attack, but many people thought to just ignore the updates. 

Whether it is your phone or PC you should make updating your software a priority. It not all about attacks but it is about improvements in overall health, functioning, and usability of the device, with new updates you might get new features, which were not there in the previous build. With new versions, you get the latest software and security patches which increase the device usability 

Benefits of updating your PC.

1. Increased Security: Well mostly if you might have a virus and you share your files with your friends it is a possibility that you might transfer that virus along with the files to your friends and they might transfer it to others, which will result in catastrophe. With security updates, you not only protect yourself but your friends and family too.

2. Increased usability: With new updates, your device will be able to perform better and faster in some cases, bugs and loopholes are sorted out and productivity is increased. 

3. Visual appeal is increased: With new updates, new icons and themes are released with which the visual appeal of your operating system increases. With new updates, icons look better and clearer to sight.

4. You deserve better: Updates not only for security reasons, but they are also there so that you(the User) can get a better experience in every way, you don't want to fall behind the times right! It is all aimed at one motive to make your experience better.
