Why does your computer work slow?

Before we talk about some methods and tricks to make your computer faster. Let's talk about why does your computer works slow sometimes. Well, there are various reasons why your computer might be working slow.
Let's state a few reasons and we shall talk about them in detail.

  • Unnecessary junk files and cache files stored.
  • Your hard might be full.
  • Broken registry links.
  • Too many programs in the startup list.
  • Hard disk is fragmented.
  • Viruses might have corrupted files.
  • Having more than one antivirus program.
  • Less Ram memory.

1. Unnecessary junk files and cache files stored.:

When you are running your PC your computer creates many files for ease of access and stores them in the cache(A type of memory which is used for fast access) those files might not be necessary for you are over the time a lot of them would have been accumulated. This might slow your computer. So it is safe to delete them and free some space.
Windows offers a very neat solution called Disk Cleanup. Using Disk clean up you can free all that space that the junk files are using.
To access Disk clean up: Press Start button or the Search button and type "Disk Cleanup", After you find it just click on it. Other way to go to it is. When you have opened My Computer(This PC in windows 10) right-click on C: drive(System drive) click on Properties and in the new dialog box that appears and select the Disk Cleanup option.

You can see the amount of space that you will be able to free here. You can just click on the ok button and the process will automatically start. Most of the files that are needed have been checked automatically. If you know what types of files these are then surely you can check them also and delete them too. Otherwise, just let them be as they are and click on the 'OK' button.

2. Your hard disk might be full.

This might be another important issue that is causing your computer to run slow. When the hard disk gets full it becomes harder for the computer to load your files and programs. You might have seen that when you click on a program to open, it take a lot of time and then it opens. Well, this might be also due to unwanted files on your computer, you can free them with the above-given method for more methods keep reading.

Another or most obvious advice will be to delete files that you might not need.

3.Broken registry link

The windows registry is a database of all the functioning, machine settings and information about everything on your computer. The registry contains two basic elements keys and values.
Every time you install and delete software or preform upgrades your computer it creates key sometimes that are duplicated or are destroyed by malware making the programs accessible. Well, this is just for the knowledge I won't recommend any solutions for these but you do get registry cleaner you can use them they are safe to use and they delete unnecessary broken links. But to be on the safe side don't mess with them.

4. Too many programs in the startup list:

This might be also a major reason why your computer might be starting slow. What happens is when you're computer is booting up many files are placed in the RAM. So, the number of programs will increase the boot time which will lead to a late start. Unnecessary programs will make your computer slow because you are not using them they are running in the background. The solution is removing them from the startup list.
Follow these steps to remove unnecessary items. There are many ways to start Task manager but I'll show you the common ones.
1. If you use Windows 8 and later then follow these steps. Click on the taskbar(the bar at the bottom of your pc) and right-click on it and select 'Task Manager'.

taskbar

After the taskbar appears on the tabs above click on the 'Start-up' tab. Below you will see a list of programs. Now you have to be careful here because I do not know what type of software you have installed. So you will carefully see programs and see if they are important or not. Like if it is software like Intel corporation then don't touch it. But if it's like skype or messenger or adobe reader or just any music program or Onedrive then click on it and below click disable. Those programs will no longer start when your PC will boot up. If you do not understand what's going on then don't do it 😊😊.

5. Hard disk is fragmented:

This is a major problem when it comes to slow computers. We all face this problem. Well what happens is when you keep using your hard disk for opening programs and deleting them, then they slowly become fragmented and as your hard disk is mechanical then it becomes hard for your computer to detect files and find them and that is the reason why your computer might become slow.

Windows offers a solution to this you can use Disk Defragmenter to fix this problem. Click on the search bar on the taskbar and type "Disk defragmenter", simply click on it and the program opens up. Another way to open is by click on the drive you want to perform this operation on by going to My computer section or (This PC in Windows 10) and selecting the drive and right-click on it and select properties and in the new dialog box that opens select the tools tab and click on the "Optimize" button.

Now click on optimize in the tools tab.

Now in the new dialog box that appears you will see drives on which you can perform operations and you click on C: drive or the other ones if you want to perform the defragmentation. I recommend C drive for the first time you can do others as well and then click on Optimize. If you click on Analyze then it will just check if its is fragmented or not.  When the process is complete then you can close the program. After completion, your PC should work faster than before.

6. Viruses:

Viruses are a nuisance and they can destroy your data and computer. So the only way to get rid of them is by installing a computer antivirus. You can look up on the internet about which one to install. If you want further information about viruses then you can refer to my article on viruses here:

7. Having more than one antivirus program.

Antivirus program are very useful but if you are running more than one thinking two is better than one the this is the wrong way to think because an antivirus program is very heavy on the computer. It continuously searches for viruses in real-time and having two will definitely slow you down.
The only way is to uninstall one of them. If you want a guided step on how to uninstall a program then you can refer to this article here you will find the steps to uninstall a program.
https://www.phoenixblogs9.com/2019/05/how-to-use-basic-settings-of-Windows.htmlIn this article, you will have to follow the same steps just decide which program to uninstall and follow the same steps.
If you get any difficulty you can mail me your problem.

8.Very less Ram.

This is a very frequent problem nowadays more softwares are being made and they also have a requirement of their own. If you are using 2GB of RAM then definitely you PC will run slow because more programs need more space in the Ram and if you don't have space then you PC will definitely run slow, the way to overcome this problem is to increase the RAM by going to PC hardware shop and asking them to increase the Ram. If you are buying a PC then choose minimum 4GB or 8 GB atleast.

Well this all, for now, thanks for going through. If you have and queries the pls contact me on my mail: phoenixblogs99@gmail.com

Thank you.
