Knowing about Control Panel settings

Knowing about Control Panel settings
Control panel is an important integrated application through which you can control various settings of your PC. Knowing about these settings can help you solve some trivial and complicated problems for which you would require an experienced computer person.

A view of History
Through the years if you have used Windows 10 since its launch in 2015, the first time they launched the settings app you would have noticed that it had some basic functionalities and a few options. But today at the present time, the settings app in windows has included many options for us. Little by little Microsoft has taken settings and have migrated them into the settings app, well who knows what the future going to be, but for the present moment Control Panel is alive and well and you need to learn it.

How to open Control Panel

Control panel can be opened easily. You can click on the start menu button on windows and type 'control panel'. Just click on it and it will open. Or click on Cortana search button and type 'control panel' and it will open.

After you open the control panel you might see the options in various categories and not particularly in their options, so what you can do is click on view by options on the top-right side of the window
and select large icons

I am going to tell you about some basic functionalities of the Control panel:

1. POWER OPTIONS:
Power option is a less important setting, not many people go into it, but as a learner, you need to learn about what its function is and how you can use this to maximize your battery life.
FIRST STEP IS TO CLICK ON 'POWER OPTIONS ' on the control panel. Done now,

Now, this is a screenshot of how your options would appear. Now your view of the middle part SELECTED PLAN might be different, you might have more options like 'BALANCED, POWER SAVER'. I just have one.

In the left-side, you will see other options like 'Choose what closing the lid does', 'Create a power plan'.

let's break these options:

a)Create a power plan: In this option, you will be provided with three choices. BALANCED, POWER SAVER AND HIGH PERFORMANCE. You will see the description of each plan below them.

power plan

Select the plan that you want and click Next. Select the settings that you like the minium the setting you keep like brightness levels, the more power you save. The power plan consists of two-part one is when you are on battery power and one is when you are connected to AC source(charging). The setting you chose on them it will apply when the particular mode is on.  Just press on create and you are done.

There are more setting on the power options like 'choose what closing the lid does'  so you can click on it and it will take you back to the power plan settings and you can choose what happens and click on save or next.
There are more settings but I'll leave it to you for exploration. If you have any queries you can ask me at the comments.

2. DATE AND TIME SETTINGS

Date and time settings are automatically synchronized by windows. But for some reason, you want to change the time manually or you might want to view the time of some other country like (US, Canada, New Zealand) you might have to make some changes. Just click on 'Date and Time'  on the Control Panel home. Click on it and  the window appears like:

Date and time

You can see in the picture what my time and region is if you want to set a different time for other regions. Just click on Additional clocks and choose the region of your choice.
If for some reason your time is not synchronized for some odd reason you can go to Internet time and click on 'change settings' and the server should be: 'time.windows.com' and then click on Update now. The time will be updated automatically.

If you want to manually change the date and time click on the 'Change date and time' under the Date and Time Tab.
and set the time accordingly.

HAVING A TOUGH TIME THINKING ABOUT WHAT SETTINGS TO TALK ABOUT.

3.SYSTEM SETTINGS
In this, you will usually see the basic details about your computer or laptop. Like the manufacturer and the processor and the model and the Ram and the architecture of your Operating System.

4. MOUSE SETTINGS:
Mouse settings are important you won't need to look into it but if you require then here's the info.

mouse options

I'll try to explain the basic settings that you might use. if you want to change some settings then the description is naturally given below the option so you can choose to change them accordingly.
Pointer options are important if you want to increase the response time of your mouse pointer then this is a good tool to use. What you can do is choose 'Pointer options' tab and in the slider level from slow to fast, you can choose the desired level of smoothness.

All the other settings are by default appropriate so, do not make any changes in them.

5. PROGRAM AND FEATURES:

Program and features is an important and a small part of it is also in the settings app.

program and features

On this menu, you will see all the programs you have installed on your computer. Mainly this app is used for uninstalling a program.
Uninstalling a program.
First, select the software that you want to uninstall or add a feature(In some application what you can do is when you click on Uninstall they give you the option to add or remove feature). Right-click on the software and select 'Uninstall/change'. A window will appear corresponding to the software, you will be given the option to add feature or uninstall click on uninstall. The process will begin and the confirmation will be shown that the program is successfully uninstalled. Some program will ask permission to restart it's a wise choice to restart to remove the program entirely.

There are many options in the Control Panel but these are the basic things I thought someone should know. more advanced settings will come in future articles. Thanks for reading through. If you have any doubt considering the steps you can freely ask me OR MAIL ME AT phoenixblogs99@gmail.com
