Google Gmail is a very popular email program, used to send and receive mail. As the times have changed, the purpose of an email has changed just from mere sending and receiving an e-mail to enabling you to access various services.
Google's Gmail was launched on April 1 2004. Gmail has shown phenomenal growth in recent years. If you are a smartphone user and have used android then you might have noticed how you need a Google account to download apps from app store, view youtube videos and much more. As you go much deeper in the developer side then you will notice that having a Gmail account can give you access to various resources of Google.
In fact, I used a google account to create this very blog that you are reading.
Having a Google account can give you access to youtube content, email, Google's blogger platform, Google's Adsense, Google Search Console etc.
Let's learn how to open a Gmail account.
1. Open a web browser type 'Gmail' Or just go to ( www.gmail.com),
click on the Gmail link as shown in the picture or click on below link(the easy way).
Alert: IF YOU CLICK ON THE LINK SHOWN IN THE PICTURE ABOVE WHEN YOU SEARCH IN THE BROWSER THEN YOU MIGHT LAND ON A PAGE ASKING YOU TO SIGN IN TO YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE. BELOW ON THE PAGE, YOU WILL SEE A LINK AS "CREATE A NEW ONE" OR 'CREATE AN ACCOUNT'. THE RESULT IS SAME.
IF YOU ARE USING DIFFERENT BROWSER THEN THE FORM AVAILABLE TO YOU MIGHT BE DIFFERENT THEN WHAT I HAVE SHOWN BUT THE CONCEPT IS SAME, SO DON'T WORRY.

2. Click on create an account.
Click on create an account and then you will get a page like this.
In the form that you see above, you can see that you have to enter your First name and your Last Name and the next one is the most important of all is your username or your email address( this is what your email address is going to be). The next step is to choose a password after you have entered a valid and a secure password(Follow the instructions given on the page about how your password should be.) Click Next.
Alert: NO TWO GMAIL ACCOUNTS CAN BE SAME SO PLS CHOOSE AN UNIQUE NAME FOR YOUR ACCOUNT. IT CAN BE DIFFICULT WHEN YOU HAVE MILLIONS OF USERS. BUT DON'T LOOSE HOPE.
Here are some rules for choosing a good email address.
1. Don't choose a long name, a long name is hard to write and memorize, people might find it hard to remember your email. So, chose a simple one.
2. Avoid using too many numbers in your email. like Adamsmith8988989@gmail.com will not be a good name. In the business world having an email address with way, too many numbers is not considered professional.
After clicking next, the next step is to enter your personal infomation like your Phone number(It is used to keep your email more secure). Your Date of Birth. Your recovery email, this is just for recovery purposes so that when you lose your email password, you will be able to reset it to another password with this option. Fill your gender and that's it.
If you have entered your mobile number then on the next screen you will be prompted to verify your mobile number. We all live in this technology age so I know you know what it means, Google will send a verification message then you verify it by entering the same info in the box.
Then you will be asked to add info about your phone number like add it to google so that you get better services you can accept it or skip, It's your call.
In the next step just scroll down to the privacy page, you can choose to read it and then scroll down and click on "I Agree".
ALL DONE.
You are all done with creating your Gmail account, you can straightaway start with sending emails and use your Gmail account for various Google's services.
