In the computer world technology is changing quite fast, one recent change that we have seen in laptops and computers is a change from using HDD(Hard disk Drive) to SSD(Solid State Device).
Today we are going to discuss why you should consider shifting to an SSD.
In this article, I am going to be explaining, what an SSD and HDD are? and at the end of the article a piece of important advice who are tight on budget and still wants to use an SSD. Let's dive into it !!
SSD and HDD are both storage devices and they store data. Both are phenomenal pieces of technology. But there are many aspects were both of them cut each other at various points.
Both of them are secondary storage devices.
Many of you will be considering to buy a Laptop of a Desktop and as you see the specifications you must be wondering why everyone is jumping to SSD's. Well, I'll help you choose the right one for you.
But first, let's know what both of them are.
What is HDD(Hard Disk Drive)?
A Hard disk is a type of secondary device. It is a non-volatile memory. It is used for the permanent storage of data. Anything from games and movies can be stored in this device. It is an electromechanical data storage device that uses magnetic storage that is used to store and retrieve digital information using one or more rapidly rotating disks(platters) coated with magnetic disks.
Types of Hard Disks. They are of four types.
1.) Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment(PATA)2.) Serial ATA(SATA).
3)Small Computer System Interface(SCSI)
4)Solid State Drive(SSD)
Yes SSD also a type of HDD. The first three have moving parts but SSD does not have moving parts.
What is SSD?
SSD(Solid State Drive) is the latest technology that we have. They are different from the three mentioned above because there are no moving parts in an SSD. They do not store data using magnetism. They use integrated circuits and semiconductor devices to store data.INNER VIEW OF SSD |
